What is the EU-WEBPSI portal

The EU-WEBPSI portal is one of the key products of the EU-WEBPSI project, which aims to improve access to essential services for migrants and refugees by enhancing the quality of Public Service Interpreting (PSI). The EU-WEBPSI portal represents the technological output of this project, supporting its aims in the following ways:

  • Increasing training and certification opportunities: providing PSI minimum standards and train-the-trainer materials to enhance the capacity for PSI training
  • Facilitating video-mediated interpreting (VMI): Leveraging technology to enable efficient and effective interpretation services through video conferencing.
  • Promoting interpreter exchange across member states: Encouraging the exchange of interpreters to meet varying demand across Europe.

The EU-WEBPSI portal is composed of:

  1. Learning Materials: A blend of publicly accessible and member-exclusive materials designed to train PSI trainers at the member state level.
  2. Booking Tool: An efficient booking system available for PSI providers and users within the member network.
  3. Video Tool: A browser-based video conferencing tool that requires no downloads, ensuring seamless access for members and users.

The portal has been developed by Belgium-based developer Statik, and will be tested by the project partners in 2024-2025. Access is therefore restricted to project partners.

After the end of the project in September 2025, ENPSIT, the European Network for Public Service Interpreting and Translation, will build on test results and feedback to enhance the portal's capabilities and broaden its user base.
